Dr. Allan Allphin is a board certified Otolaryngologist with Mercy Clinic-Ear, Nose and Throat. He received his medical degree from Texas Tech University and completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of American Medical Association, American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and the Amercian Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Scott Atkinson is a board certified ophthalmologist with Mercy Clinic Eye Specialist. He specializes in pediatric ophthalmology. He received his medical degree from the University of California- San Diego and completed his residency at the University of Pissburgh. He is a member of American Association of pediatric ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Dr. Hedgepeth joined St. John’s Breast Center in May 2008. His practice emphasis is mammography and women’s imaging. Dr. Hedgepeth received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University and his fellowship at Duke University. He is a member of the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Huckfeldt joined the Mercy system in 1999 as the Medical Director for St John’s Level One Trauma and Burn Center in Springfield, MO. He completed his Medical Degree at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha Nebraska in 1987. Dr. Huckfeldt completed a General Surgery residency program and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Trauma Fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland Oregon before returning to the University of Missouri as a staff surgeon and Director of Trauma. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Dr. Huckfeldt has been involved in Medical research for most of his career and now is the Medical Director of St John’s Medical Research Institute. This position allows him to oversee medical aspects of research activities and act as inventor and scientist as well. Dr. Huckfeldt is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and remains active in many Trauma and Burn societies.

Dr. Sami Khoshyomn joined Mercy Clinic-neurosurgery in 2005. He received his medical degree from the University of Vienna School of Medicine in Austria and completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto Canada. He has received numerous awards including Achievements Award from the Medical Faculty of University of Vienna. Dr. Sami is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Bharat Shah joined Mercy Health Springfield in 1996. His plastic surgery practice encompasses a wide variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including pediatric craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, facial reconstruction, microsurgery, burn reconstruction, and hair restoration.

Dr. Shah is a Chicago native, with undergraduate training at Loyola University of Chicago with a B.S. Honors Degree in Psychology. He received his medical degree at Loyola University-Stritch School of Medicine. He is residency/fellowship trained in multiple disciplines.

Dr. Shelton was the founding member of the department of ophthalmology at Smith-Glynn-Callaway Clinic in 1973. He joined the staff of St. John’s hospital at that time where he continued to practice until his retirement in 2007. His practice included a wide spectrum of diseases and surgery of the eye and orbital area.

Dr. Shelton is a native of Southwest Missouri and earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri. His residency training was obtained in Family Practice initially, then subsequently in Ophthalmology at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is board certified in Ophthalmology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Shachar Tauber joined Mercy Clinic-Eye Specialists in 2004. He is a corneal and refractive surgeon and director of ophthalmic research. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University, St. Louis in 1983 and his medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine, New Orleans in 1992. He went on to complete his residency in the Department of Ophthalmology there.

Dr. Tauber is board certified in Ophthalmology, Cornea Surgery, Refractive Surgery and Ophthalmic Research. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Ocular Surface Society. A member of the Unite for Sight Board of Directors and the AAO Self-Assessment Committee.

Dr. Dawn Zablocki received her medical degree from Loma Linda University Medical Center and completed her residency at the St. Joseph Health Sciences Center. She is board certified in anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society, the American Medical Association and the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia.
